PDF file is not saving correctly - only 1/4 page

Hello all,

I am using AutoCAD LT 2022 for Mac.    Very long time user - self taught

Problem:

When trying to save a file as a Pdf from layout tab, when I open the saved pdf, it is only saving a small portion of the layout.  Basically the lower <1/4 page.  It will print just fine on my 13x19 paper.  but will not save correctly.

Back Story:

I have saved pdf drawings the same way thousands of times for decks, basements, etc that I have drawn for more that 30 years.   Based on researching the internet, I have erased all of my printers and reloaded them, I have reset AutoCAD by shutting it down three times.  I feel like the file may be currupt because I can go back on older files and save to pdf and it works fine.  I have copied one file into another file and get the same results.

The only thing I can think of, is on this particular file, I have a pdf overlay and maybe I didn't embed it correctly.  I just inserted the overlay.  Is there something I need to do to permanently embed it?  Could this be the issue?

Thank you in advance

Chris

Hi @completehand ,

Do you have the last Update for AutoCAD LT 2022 installed?

>>>>I have a pdf overlay and maybe I didn't embed it correctly.

This could be a problem.

Does AutoCAD save PDF correctly if you temporary unload PDF underlay?

>>>>  Is there something I need to do to permanently embed it?

If PDF you have attached has vector data, you can import PDF contents with PDFIMPORT command.

Please read this Help topic:

About Importing PDF Files

If your PDF doesn't have vector data, you can convert it to raster format with Preview app and attach this raster image instead of PDF.

You can also share your drawing along with PDF underlay here - use ETRANSMIT command, we will look at it.

Thank you for the replies.  It looks like the software is up to date.  I have attached the file for your review.

Thank you

Thanks for the file @completehand

"save as PDF"? How about PLOT to PDF, your layout 13 X 19 and 13 x 19 (2) both plot fine to PDF here in 2024, no issues at all. See your DWG attached, both layouts set to PDF plotting instead of your HP device.

Hi Chris,

@completehand

I also have no problems with saving your drawing to PDF.

As @pendean mentioned you need to edit Page Setup for the layouts and set "Printer" to one of the predefined PDF printers:

You can also try to uncheck "Print transparency" option in Page Setup.

Very sorry for my late reply.   Thank you very much for the input!  Your solution worked for me. ( it is cutting off the border, but I can live with that). I tried messing with the margins to no help.  Your solution is different than I have done, but it works!  I was able to get it to my customer.   Thank you!!

I suppose I have been doing it wrong for a long time.  I will look further into getting it to keep the border.

You saved me!!

To resolve the issue of only saving a portion of the layout when saving a PDF from AutoCAD LT 2022 for Mac:

Embed the PDF overlay using the "PDFATTACH" command.
Check layer visibility to ensure the content is visible.
Try printing to PDF instead of using the "Save as PDF" option.
These steps should help you save the entire layout correctly as a PDF.
