Ortho mode will not draw straight horizontal lines.

Ortho mode will not draw straight horizontal lines.

I have ortho mode on and it will not make a straight horizontal line when I type in a dimension. I had this same problem yesterday and solved it by typing PLAN and adjusting it, but when I started again today, it's making lines crooked and adjusting PLAN will not help this time. And SNAPANG is set to 0. I have also followed this advice, without it working:

- type UCS at the command prompt, than hit Return twice to set coordinate system to World
- type PLAN at the command prompt, than hit Return twice to set view direction perpendicular current (World) coordinate system.

*I just noticed it only does it when I type in dimensions with a fraction. Such as if I go to type in 255 7/8" and type "255,7/8" it will mess up then.

Hi,

A comma is used in AutoCAD to separate X and Y coordinates, so when you type "255,7/8" AutoCAD treat this as 255 units along X axis and 7/8 units along Y axis and you get the line non parallel X axis, even with ortho enabled.
You have to input "255-7/8" - with hyphen.

Thanks! I'm a student and only took my first autocad class last semester and seemed to have forgotten a bit over the winter break!
