Just a quick question, i have downloaded the trial version of Autocad 2016 for Mac and find the transition from PC to Mac shortcuts hard to adjust to.

Basiclly i have a PC running Autocad in my office and i have a mac running Autocad in my home office, can i customise the Mac AC to run thesame as PC AC?

Thanks

Ashley

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Ashley,

Your question is quick, but the full answer is not too quick.

The quick answer is: in AutoCAD for Mac all customizations have to be done with CUI command (you can find short information about it via Help system).
With CUI command you can create new commands (macros) and assign them to the menu items and Tool Sets palette buttons which you create inside CUI editor.
You can also customize command aliases with your default text editor (use menu Customize Aliases).
You cannot customise default shortcuts inside AutoCAD as you can do on PC, but you can customize shortcuts to menu items via Mac OS System Preferences.
You cannot customize double-click actions as you can do on PC (actually you can, but only by editing CUI files directly).
You can use AutoLISP routines, but Visual LISP functions are not supported, DCL also not supported - you cannot create and use custom dialog boxes crated with DCL.

.... AND you cannot make the MAC version look like the PC version of AutoCAD 2016.
Plotting to PDF on a mac is different too: it's built into the OS on a MAC.
There are no Express Tools on the MAC.

Some of them available since 2016 version:
SUPERHATCH, Text to MTEXT, BREAKLINE, BURST, MOCORO, BLOCKREPLACE.

Change space is also available in AutoCAD for Mac now.
