Not able to enter the exact line measurement

I've recently downloaded the trial version in my MacOs Monterey 12.0.1. The big issue is that when I try to enter a specific measurement for a line it disregards my command and ends the line wherever my cursor is, it's like the command ENTER doesn't work at all.

Many thanks

To clarify, you are picking a start point, then releasing the mouse (which specifies the direction), then entering a distance and pressing enter (or whatever the command completion key is)?

Hi, thank you for the quick reply.

I tried to follow the order of the operations you indicated in the question that is:  release the mouse before entering the measurement...I tried and it worked.  I've tried a lot of times unsuccessfully, maybe I was doing something wrong. It seems to work now.

Thank you very much
