MTEXT highlight not showing

I'm having an issue that of course suddenly changed without input. When I select text in an MTEXT object, the highlighted area does not show. The text is in fact highlighted as it can be edited or deleted. However, there is no indication of what is highlighted. Highlight setting is on 1. Changing that to 0 and then back has no effect. Changing the color of highlight selection has no effect. I changed display to WYSIWIG and then changed the selection color which temporarily fixed the problem. Now it doesn't show again though. That also created issues with displaying the rulers...

Hi @novoseb ,

Please specify AutoCAD for Mac version you use and macOS version installed on your Mac.

What is your Mac model?

Do you use an external display?

Do you remember when this starts?

Have you changed Graphics Engine settings in AutoCAD preferences?

Do you have this problem only in one drawing?

It's a 2020 iMac, 3.3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5. I have a 2nd monitor in addition to the built-in display. It started yesterday. The problem is in all drawings. I have not (intentionally) changed any settings.

Do you have this issue when you edit single line text created with DTEXT command?

If I double click a DTEXT object, the entire selection shows as highlighted. However, the text highlight does not show if I select a portion of the DTEXT within the editing dialog.

I'm afraid you need to Reset AutoCAD.

Keep in mind that you will loose all your customization after Reset.

You can export settings before resetting, Reset AutoCAD and see if it helps to solve the problem. If the problem will not be solved, you can always import previously saved settings.

New information… Apparently the issue was only on every drawing in a particular project that I was working on with a rotated UCS and PLAN orientation. Changing the UCS to world doesn’t solve the issue, but changing UCS and PLAN view to world setting solves the issue.

I also experience a separate issue with the rotated UCS and PLAN settings for hatches. When setting the origin, the hatch does not start in the expected location relative to the origin point. For instance, on the net hatch, setting the origin in the rotated UCS does not start the hatch on the grid intersection but rather some random point in the middle.

@novoseb ,

Can you share one of the drawings with this issue?

Looks like I cannot reproduce these problems on my side, maybe I misunderstood the conditions.

I do appreciate your help and quick responses. Unfortunately, I can't share the drawings in question as they contain proprietary information. Thank you for offering though!

You can erase everything except Mtext object and Hatch, PURGE daring and attach it here.

Hi Ben,

@novoseb

Try this:

- open one of the drawings with this problem

- set Linetype property for layer Defpoints to Continuous:

- now try to edit Mtext

Are you able to see selection highlight now?

Unfortunately that does not work. It's strange though as the example drawing I sent DOES work when I change that...

Hi Ben,

1/ I noticed that there are PROXY objects in your drawing from Civil 3D:

2023-10-14_16-31-13.png

2/ There is something wrong with UCS in the drawing you shared and I believe in all other drawings with this problem.

Look:

If I set UCS icon to display at origin (command UCSICON with ORigin option) in your drawing I get the following:

2023-10-14_16-07-12.png

- UCS icon (1) is faded for some reason. In all other drawings it appears clearly.

- Plus - UCS icon has a shape of WCS with small square at origin point, despite the fact that the current one is UCS (2)

- Plus - UCS icon is not displayed at the origin of UCS, if you draw line from 0,0 of the current UCS the first point of this line will be at a position marked with 3 on my screenshot.
