MTEXT automatically adding dynamic columns

Can someone tell me why when I create text using the MTEXT command, dynamic columns are automatically added to the text?  It's extremely frustrating and inefficient to set remove the columns from the text.

Thanks.

Look up MTEXTCOLUMN (System Variable) and keep track of the setting you don't want when you don't want it (you automate that latter with SYSVARMONITOR command, also explained in HELP if the MAC version has that).

Hi Bret,

SYSVARMONITOR command is not available on Mac, but look at the MTEXTCOLUMN System variable and set it to 0 (zero) as @pendean suggested.
