Hi all

I'm finding the layout of Autocad 2022 Very confusing with lots of icons with different sizes and it is difficult to teach students this one, even to myself. For Example how can I move the left Tools panel to the top like in older versions of cad or just have the icons that I use the most aligned in a single bar?

Thanks a lot

If you are teaching others, I wouldn't mess with the UI too much or they won't know what to do at a new job where the UI is most likely going to be right OOTB.

But to get back to your Q - what is your screenshot of?

That looks like the ribbon, docked to the left edge? Is that Windows or Mac?

If you have this Icon  GeeHaa_0-1624980355872.png

on the bottom of your screen (workspaces) try to click on it and choose drafting and annotation. If you don't have it type CUI on the command line. and choose it from the upper left side. Try Right click on it set current and then apply.

Older version of AutoCAD for MAC, on a MAC, in MacOS?
Are you teaching MAC users only? No Windows users at all?

Your screenshot is of AutoCAD for MAC: it has a unique UI and latest versions are even more unique, but you cannot make that version look like the one for AutoCAD for Windows and you cannot move much of the interface/UI around either in that version.

The school only uses Macs! Well, the layout or display and the icons are Very confusing, and it is too crowded with icons the we do'n need at all. the puts any student off, just look how neatly for example Fusion or Onshape are!

Thanks for your reply, students only have Macs, that is unfortunate we can not customize and clean the user interface to a much simpler one, it puts any student off and me as well to be honest having such a confusing layout!

Hi GeeHaa, thanks, I have a icon like that on the bottom right but it doesn't have anything like "Drafting and Annotation"

Hi @mi.silva,

>>>>>but it doesn't have anything like "Drafting and Annotation"
AutoCAD for Mac doesn't have Workspaces feature, and @GeeHaa wrote about AutoCAD for Windows.

Next time you ask a question, please specify, under which OS you use AutoCAD.
