Metal graphics engine caps FPS to 30fps? Making everything feels so slow.

Metal graphics engine seems to cap the fps to 30fps. It makes mouse cursor feels very laggy and everything feels slower. Opengl in the other hand, is running up to 60fps. It makes everything feels so much better. Metal graphics engine should be faster since it is the native macOS engine, yet the capped frame rate ruins everything. is there a way to run Metal graphics engine at 60fps? Tested on m1 MacBook air.

Hi @cheysamsereiphalkun ,

Does this happens in all of your drawings? With all Visual Styles?

What MacBook Air M1 model do you have? Does it have 7-core or 8-core GPU?

I have Mac mini M1 with 8-core GPU and it doesn't have any problems with graphics performance with Metal Graphics Engine.

I have the base model Macbook Air m1 with 7 GPU cores. and yes, it is very consistent with all drawings and every visual style. I feel like everything is refreshing at 30fps.

What AutoCAD version do you use?

What macOS installed on your Mac?

A stripped-down graphics chip (7-core) could be causing graphics performance issues in AutoCAD with Matal GE

We need some more information:

1. Your AutoCAD version.

2. Do you use any external display?

3. How do you feel the performance when you pan or zoom in the canvas, is it slower than OGL?

Sorry for the lack of information.
Here is the complete info:
MacBook Air M1 base model
Autocad for Mac 2024.0.1
MacOS Ventura 13.4.1
Test both external monitors plugged and unplugged

Might be because of the 7 GPUs, But it is very weird because if I don't click on AutoCAD and try to pan the viewport, it is very very smooth. As soon as I click and pan, the frame rate drops again.

Hi @cheysamsereiphalkun,

We cannot reproduce this problem on the same model machine. So is this issue reproducible in an empty drawing? If not, can you share one of the problem drawings? If any privacy or business concern, you can email to me directly (juemin.yuan@autodesk.com).

Thanks,

Juemin
