Measuring distance between two objects

Hi there,

I am very new to AutoCAD for MAC. I am currently taking an online class to learn, but it is being taught using AutoCAD for PC, but as I don't have a PC I'm trying to adjust to the differences.

Can someone help me learn how to measure a doorway space? When I use the MEASUREGEOM function it highlights certain distances, but not the one I need.

Any suggestions for what to do?

Thank you so much !

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Lindsay,

You can also use MEASUREGEOM command. By default when you use it for the first time it starts in Quick measure mode (new feature in AutoCAD 2021 for Mac). So after you call MEASUREGEOM command, switch to Distance mode by entering D and hitting Return. Now you can measure distances:

Command: MEASUREGEOM
Move cursor or [Distance/Radius/Angle/ARea/Volume/Quick/Mode/eXit] <eXit>: d
Specify first point:
Specify second point or [Multiple points]:
Distance = 155.2500, Angle in XY Plane = 270, Angle from XY Plane = 0
Delta X = 0.0000, Delta Y = -155.2500, Delta Z = 0.0000

You can turn off default Quick mode by selecting Mode option and answering No to "Always default to quick measure behavior?" question:

Command: MEASUREGEOM
Move cursor or [Distance/Radius/Angle/ARea/Volume/Quick/Mode/eXit] <eXit>:
Enter an option [Distance/Radius/Angle/ARea/Volume/Quick/Mode/eXit] <Distance>: M
Always default to quick measure behavior? [Yes/No] <No>: n

This is exactly the solution I was looking for, and mirrors what my instructor was doing in AutoCAD for PC.

So helpful, thank you!!
