Is "copy to new layer" still broken?

Is "copy to new layer" still broken?

Searching for how to copy objects from one layer to another in Autocad LT, I found this post from 2014:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-for-mac-forum/how-do-i-copy-objects-to-a-new-layer-or-duplica...

which states that the functionality is broken, and recommends using an AutoLISP routine as a work-around. However, later in the thread, it turns out that Autocad LT can't use AutoLISP routines.

I've been trying the simple approach of copying from one layer and pasting to another, and that draws an error message complaining about duplicate blocks.

Is this still broken three years later in 2017? Or am I missing something?

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Jerry,

Yes, you are correct COPYTOLAYER command still not available in AutoCAD for Mac.
But why not to use this method:
https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-for-mac-forum/how-do-i-copy-objects-to-a-new-layer-or-duplica...

Before using "Move To Layer" select objects you want to copy to another layer, then make a copy of them at the same place. Then use SELECT command with "Previous" option, than use context menu "Move To Layer".
After this you can also MOVE objects copied to another layer using "Previous" option in MOVE command.
