Inaccurate object snapping issues.

Hello everyone, I am having trouble with accuracy on my drawings due to inaccurate object snapping.

A. Drafting new objects referencing an existing point seems to often draw misaligned off the starting reference point.

B. Drafting new objects referencing an existing point that has a dimensions line on it will sometimes take the head of the dimension arrow instead of the actual object parameter point.

The misalignments are by small increments yet as drawing shapes increase, all these inaccurately originated objects mess with dimension accuracy.  Any pointers on rectifying this behaviour?

Hi,

What AutoCAD version your are using now?
If it is 2020 or 2021 version:
Do you use AutoCAD with Retina (or other Hi-Res) display?
Have you tried to run AutoCAD in Low resolution (right-click on AutoCAD.app -> Get Info -> Check-mark "Open in Low Resolution" and relaunch AutoCAD)
Do you think the OSNAP inaccuracy problem starts immediately after the launch of AutoCAD or does it need to work in the program for a while so that this problem begins to manifest itself?

Hello @maxim_k, wishing you well. Running AC 2021 on a 27" Retina Display – Low resolution now on. I will have to observe AC's behaviour to determine when OSNAP deviation starts. Will feedback!

SNAP is OFF, so it shouldn't affect OSNAP, but mixing a lot of different running object snaps is not a good idea, I usually have only 3 or 4 OSNAPs set as running all the time - ENDpoint, INTersection, NODe and QUAdrant.

At the same time I also have issues with OSNAP since 2020 version (in 2019 version and earlier it was OK). Quite often it turns out that I see an autosnap marker, click to pick a point on screen, but then realise that AutoCAD takes my mouse pick in a place different then it shows with autosnap marker. This happens especially when I move the mouse quickly.

Facing your exact described issue as well – that was what I am trying to fix.

Killed a few OSNAPs, hopefully that reduces inaccurate pick probabilities. Thank you for the tip!

Hi @Thmucha ,

What AutoCAD for Mac version do you use?

AFAIR The problems with OSNAPs were resolved in 2023 version and 2024 version doesn't show this problem too.
