I'm having issues using subtract and erase functions. They were working fine previously.

Good morning,

I've just started training on AutoCAD Mac 2021 and was learning rather quickly but I'm having issues using subtract command to remove doors from a 3D model. Half of the doors removed using the function the remaining I utilized the erase (by face) function. One door is remaining and both functions won't work for some reason. I have attached the AutoCAD file and the door in question is toward the rear of the home. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi @isaiahjprophete ,

I had no problems with SUBTRACT command.

I drew a BOX with door dimensions and subtracted it from the main WALL solid.

I appreciate your help greatly. Could this be a change in my settings that caused the issue? I had removed the other doors and was working on another project. When I went back to the attach project (from original post) it wasn't working. What are some guidelines that allow successful subtraction each time... Thanks in advance.

There are no special guidelines for subtraction except the SUBTRACT command workflow: you need at first select object from you want to subtract and hit Return, then you select object(s) you want to subtract. Of course, the objects should "intersect" in 3D space.

I created section plane object and got a section of the wall.

I see the result of subtraction in your initial drawing:

But it is inside the wall and is not visible from outside. So the geometry you were using for subtraction had wrong dimensions - too small.

There was no problem with subtracting the right box from the wall as it has correct size and position.

I had to increase the height of the left box with central grip and move the whole box forward before subtracting it.

Another way is to create holes in the wall with PRESSPULL command:

You need to create rectangles at first, then use PRESSPULL to cut the holes.
