I can't open up my AutoCad as it keeps showing "Application not responding"

Hi,

As the title shown above, everything was fine until I was trying to add new symbol contents into the symbol libraries. I think it might be the problem of choosing the wrong way to import the symbol files, as Autocad asked me the ways of importing the symbol files, and I remember I chose the second option, something about adding blocks separately. I guess it might also be the problem of the file size is way too large  (95MB), as I waited for a bit to load the file and then it showed "Application not responding", so then I clicked "forced quit" thought it would be helpful if I close everything and start again. But turns out Autocad is not letting me open up any of edited files, I can't even open up a new blank drawing as well. I've repeated the same steps for couple times but still not working out, so I clicked force quit and reopened any files it's still showing me "Application not responding" (see attached photos)... Please tell me what should I do to fix this problem asap? My mac version is 10.13.6. Screen Shot 2019-10-20 at 2.35.29 am.pngScreen Shot 2019-10-20 at 2.42.01 am.png

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Ju-Ting Hsu,

Have you tried to restart your Mac?
If yes, as next step, you can try to reset AutoCAD (hold Shift key when you launch AutoCAD from Dock).

Hi Maxim,

Yes it works! Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. However...it deleted all the previous symbols that I've already imported in the symbol libraries, as well as customised layout templates created by me ...just wondering is there any other ways to solve this problem if comes up again in the future?

And the system asks me to update the software to 2019.1 do you reckon to do that though?

Yes, you need to update as this Update improves overall stability of the product and fixes bugs plus adds compatibility with new macOS Catalina.

This (resetting) is the most radical way. Maybe another way could be found, but for this I would need to have access to your computer...

BTW, all your previous settings an customizations (including templates) saved during reset in archive, which you can find inside
/Users/YOUR_USER_NAME/Library/Application Support/Autodesk
folder. The file has name "Settings Backup XX-XX-XX XX.XX.XX.tgz" (XX-XX are date and time when you reset AutoCAD). So you can find at least your custom templates inside that archive.
