I can no longer pan/move my drawing while the Text editor is active, and it's blocking the text I want to edit

In previous versions of AutoCad for Mac, when I wanted to add text to the top of my drawings, when the text editor appeared, I could hold down Command and drag my drawing lower so that the Text Editor was not blocking the view of the text I wanted to Edit.(If there was some way to unlock the Text Editor position and drag it out of the way?)

Now with AFM 23 I am not permitted to drag my drawing while the Text Editor is active, and have to stop the commmand, re-position my drawing lower and then launch a new text command.

Am I missing something?

Hi @rickT6W8U ,

At first try to update your AutoCAD with the latest Update:

https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACDMAC/2023/ENU/?guid=AUTOCAD_MAC_2023_2_1_FIXED_ISSUES

Your AutoCAD product version should be T.114.M36

Not sure about Magic Mouse, because I don't use it, but with standard mouse with wheel I can pan the drawing by holding down middle button if MBUTTONPAN=1.

maxim,
my software is up to date, and the mouse works fine when I want to
pan, hitting the spacebar and dragging, EXCEPT when the Text Editor is open.
I wish Autodesk would allow the Text Editor to detach and move to another
location like the other tools, or fix this glitch.

Hi Rick,

Please clarify: what do you call a Text Editor? Perhaps attach a screenshot in which circle it.

here is a screenshot of the "Text Editor" which appears whenever you click
the text icon
to enter text.It is placed right on top of the drawing workspace and you
can't move it.

Hi Rick,

Are you about Text Editor Visor?

If yes, then you cannot move it in AutoCAD for Mac. Its position is fixed on application level.

Are you sure? How did you "drag" the drawing? Have you used left mouse button with Command key?

Yes, this is the Text Editor I am referring to, and yes, I understand that it is in a "fixed" location and can't be moved,

but, in previous versions of Autocad I was able to hold down the spacebar and drag my drawing(in which the top portion where I typically place the main text of the document is covered by this "fixed" Text Editor Visor)

lower, enabling me to edit the text.

I can no longer do this spacebar/drag while the TE Visor is active, causing me to end the text command,

move the drawing lower, then re-enter the text command.

This adds up to a PITA repeatedly throughout my work day.

thanks for your help and input-

Hi @rickT6W8U ,

Which previous version are you referring to?

I tried 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 versions and this method doesn't work.

And this is not surprising - as soon as you press the spacebar while the cursor is inside the text, a space is entered in this text.
