How to switch off block auto placement

Is there a way to permanently switch off the block auto-placement?  I find it infuriating as it never suggests the correct orientation, and don't want to have to hold down Shift+W every time I place a block.

I'm using AutoCad LT for Mac (2024)

You need to set System Variable AUTOPLACEMENT=0
