How To Enable Right Click Menus For Basic Drawing Commands and OSNAP in AUTOCAD 2022 For MAC

Hi

I am a long time AutoCAD user going all the way back to AutoCAD 13.  In older versions of AutoCAD I used to be able to set up right click so that when I right clicked I have access to basic drawing commands as well as osnap commands.  I'm now using AutoCAD 2022 for Mac and I cant figure out how to enable those short cuts.  I do have a right click menu available but its a bunch of commands that are not very useful.  I would like to be able to right click and get access to OSNAP menu at the very least.  Is there a way to make that a primary feature in the right click menu in AutoCAD 2022 for Mac?

You'll probably get faster more accurate responses if you ask in the AutoCAD for Mac forum.

Hi @smelchionda ,

Yes, officially it is not possible to customise right-click menu in AutoCAD for Mac.

If you are experienced AutoCAD user, you can manually edit PopMenuRoot.cui file and add commands you need to right-click menu. PopMenuRoot.cui is inside AutoCAD application folder:

/Applications/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2023/AutoCAD 2023.app/Contents/Resources/PopMenuRoot.cui

If you need to have OSNAP menu at hand - you can use Shift+right-click to open it, this works on Mac the same way as on PC.

Thanks! that helpful.  However I am having trouble finding that cui file.  I am on AutoCAD 2022 and the paths are a little different.  II'm seeing Library / Application Support / AutoCAD 2022 / R24.1 / Roaming / CUI... but its not in that folder.

@smelchionda

It is inside AutoCAD 2022 application folder.

The full path is:

/Applications/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2022/AutoCAD 2022.app/Contents/Resources/PopMenuRoot.cui

To get inside AutoCAD application folder - locate AutoCAD 2022.app, right-click on it and select "Show Package Contents"

Use plain text editor to edit it.

Don't forget to backup original CUI file in case something will go wrong.

Thanks but that is a lot of typing.  I am much faster when I can just access that menu via right click.  I cant believe that this isn't something that is a standard feature?

Holding the shift key while right clicking?

It sounds like you might need a customizable mouse.

Hi @smelchionda ,

>>>>> I am much faster when I can just access that menu via right click.

Have you tried to set MBUTTONPAN to 0 (zero), then you will be able to call OSNAP menu with middle mouse button.

But in this case you will loose an ability to PAN with middle button...
