Help needed- how do I show dimensions on a drawing?

Hi there,

Please, I really need some help from anyone who knows AutoCAD!

I am an illustrator/designer and have been sent over an autoCAD drawing of a shop display stand by my client who wants it illustrated. The images need to be to the exact size of the CAD drawing. The problem is, I don't know CAD software at all, it just happens my Husband as it on our computer and the file my client sent over doesn't show any dimensions, just white line drawings.

The client says that the file he sent over had the dimensions on it and they are very specific, and he can't help anymore than that. How can I make the dimensions show up on the drawing? It appears on a black background and in the top left corner says Top | 2D wireframe, in the bottom left corner it has a + Y axis. It looks like our software version is 2012?

Please can anyone suggest anything to help?

Many thanks,

Gege

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Geg,
You need to verify that all layers are turned on and not frozen in the drawing - dimensions could be on the layer that is turned off or frozen.
You can also check Paper space, maybe your client put dimensions dimensions in the Layout.
if you want, you may attach the drawing here, I can look at it.

Hi Maxim,

Thank you for your reply!

Im unsure where layers are on CAD or how to see if they are frozen or not? Where would I find this? Im so sorry if im being stupid, I literally haven't used the software before :cara_asombrada:

If you are able to look at the file for me that would be brilliant! Please find it attached.

Many thanks,

Gege

So what I am viewing is all there is, just a line drawing? What can I do, is it my software? Can I somehow take the lengths of sides etc off of it?

Kind regards,

Genna

You can try to put dimensions yourself or use MEASUREGEOM command to measure distances, angles and radiuses.
