Hi,

Have you tried to switch to one of the 3D Visual styles?

I see that you have added some vertical lines to the cylinder, are those obligatory to make the solid hatch?

Can you attach your drawing here?
In my example the object you can see is 3D Solids, I am not sure about yours.

The areas you want to hatch are not flat, but HATCH command can only create flat hatches.

In my example drawing I used 3D Solid with faces colored with different colors. And you can see this colors only using 3D visual style.

I created 3d Solid in your drawing with the same parameters as yours and colored its faces.

How did you create a 3D solid ? (i'm a beginner at using autocad in 3D i mostly use it in 2D)

Hi,

Here are my steps:
- create a circle, extrude it to make cylinder.
- create two profiles for hollows
- create a helix with half turn along the cylinder height to use it as a path for sweeping hollow profiles
- use SWEEP command to create solids from "hollow" profiles along helix path
- subtract these solids from initial cylinder
- use solid edit to color the hollows

I do appreciate the ideas listed above, but unfortunately none of them have solved my problem.  I did attach my .dwg files as David requested.  If anyone has any other ideas, I would be most appreciative.

Thank you!

Hi Jessica,

But there is no DWG attached to your post.
Can you also provide more details about your problem?
