Hatches show up as black

The hatch pattern previews all read as black boxes, and the hatch selected is black as well. I have reinstalled the software and that did not help. I also tried changing the settings from associative to annotative, that also did not help. Any ideas? Could this be a graphics card issue? The MacBook is brand new so I'd like to think it's not a computer issue.

Does this happens in all of your drawings, including newly created?
If the issue shows only in specific drawings: can you attach one of them here?

Yes here is the one that I’m having a problem with. I started a new file and when I drew a shape in the new file, it allowed me to add hatches to that shape. But when I copied this drawing into the new file, it didn’t allow me to preview the hatches anymore, they showed up as black again, and the shape is black still, as you can see, even though I chose the “earth” hatch.

You cannot see hatch patterns previews when you select that hatch and want to edit it, because the color property of the hatch is set to color 250. If you change it to something other - hatch patterns previews will be visible.

Hatch object itself in the drawing looks as solid, because it has very small scale (1.1) - change scale to 1:100 or 1:1000 - you will be able to see the hatch. Or, as the hatch is annotative) you can change annotation scale to 1:100 on Status Bar.
