Freeze a Layer Viewport Not Working?

I click in a viewport to activate it, then type LAYFRZ.  The command line asks me to select an object but I notice that the viewport is no longer activated.  Furthermore, I can no longer activate any Viewport while this command line is open.

What am I doing wrong?

Most of us have to double-click to get inside a viewport in a layout, not just single click.

First type command MSPACE to pop inside a Layout VPort

If you have more than one you can use the keyboard combination Ctrl+R (for Windows version only) to toggle between the active VPorts.

When you're done with the LAYFRZ command you can enter the PSPACE command to return to Layout.

Many thanks for all.  I just needed to restart my computer.  I should always try that first!

I appreciate your help.

Good suggestion especially when one cannot see the bright outline of the view box showing when it is open.
