The free trial will not install because of the operating system.  Can I do anything about this?

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Which trial did you download and what is your operating system? I am happy to get you started if I can.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am afraid I don't see any attachments. I don't need images if you can just type in what you are trying to work with.

Hi @Anonymous,

Here are the system requirements for AutoCAD LT 2017 for Mac.

You are currently running Mountain Lion which is not compatible. The oldest version that would work is Yosemite with all the latest updates.  If you are unable to update your OS to this version I suspect you might not have the hardware to run it either. Can you give me some more information on your configuration?

AutoCAD LT 2015 for Mac is the last version to run on your older operating system.

Hi @Anonymous,  Is your Mac too old to get an OS update to Yosemite? If that is the case I think you will need to consider a newer computer in order to run the software.  You might be able to get a Bootcamp partition set up with Windows 7 to run a Windows Trial version.

We've only had it about 2-3 years. I will see what I can find to try to
resolve this.

Thank you.

You don't seem familiar with "OPERATING SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS!". That's the first thing you want to check - is it compatible with my OS - before downloading ANY software.

FYI: OS X Mountain Lion was released on July 25, 2012! But your iMac is only 2-3 years old? Regardless, it's one thing to have a MAC for 5+ years... but to not update OS X in that time? Not sensible. There are security updates,..etc.

Did you turn off automatic software updates after 10.8.5? When was the last time you checked software updates; Choose Apple menu () > Software Update to check for the latest Apple software via the Mac App Store.

Good luck, you've got 5 years of OS X updates to get through. Better yet...

Upgrade to macOS Sierra
