Formatting tables

It's been awhile since I've used AutoCad tables and I'm having difficulties formatting the column alignment.  I would like to:

  • center to the header cells in Row 2,
  • but I want to left justify all the rows below the header.

Autodesk helps indicates that I should right click on the column headers to set the alignment. I do not get an option to do so when I right click on the column headers.

  • Also, how do I change the alignment for different rows within a column?  When I double click and select the text within a cell, the alignment options are greyed out and I cannot select them.

Thank you.  File is attached.  I'm working on the table in the Finish Tab.

Hello @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting. The more progressive approach is to utilize the link Excel data/spreadsheets to AutoCAD it truly is the easiest & more effective option.

You also have the option to copy & paste from Excel to AutoCAD:

  1. In Microsoft Excel, select the spreadsheet area that you want to import, and copy it to the clipboard.
  2. In AutoCAD, on the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
  3. In the Paste Special dialog box, select the AutoCAD Entities option.

Hi Christine,

You need to select the range of cells you want to format by dragging mouse over the cells (you even don't need to preselect the table). After you select cells, look at the Properties palette - all formatting options are there.2019-02-01_07-26-17.png

@natasha.l You talk about AutoCAD for Windows, but Christine uses AutoCAD for Mac and there are some problems in AutoCAD for Mac with formatting options when you use Data link feature, plus Paste Special is not available in AutoCAD foe Mac as this is OS dependent feature - OLE is not a part of macOS.
