Font type not showing or printing

I have an issue that is driving me batsh**

I have a truetype font that will not display in my drawings. Now I know this has been discussed here before, and after five days of research, both here and on the web in general, I cannot resolve it. FYI, I'm using AutoCAD LT 2017.

The font is in the system OS, and every other app on my Mac can display and print it ok. But when I try opening an existing drawing that uses this font, or creating a new drawing, setting up a new text style using the font, it displays an alternate font, like its not present on my system. Also, when I try to add a text box and choose the text style that uses the font, everything looks good until I type the first letter, then it switches the font type to "Arial".

I have attached 3 screen shots.

Image Screen1 is showing the correct "Text Style" and the correct TrueType Font selected.

Screen1.jpeg

Image Screen2 shows that when I type a capital "A" or any other character for that matter, the font changes to "Arial".

Screen2.jpeg

Image Screen3 shows the Text Style that has been setup.

This font has worked just fine in the AutoCAD windows world. I have recently switched to a Mac at work and cannot get the font to work on the Mac. I have tried adding it to the AutoCAD resources folder, deleting and reinstalling the Font, even deleting and reinstalling AutoCAD (AutoCAD LT 2017) itself, and several other tips I have found during my research that I can't even remember now, my head is spinning so hard now!

Help!

What type of TTF font is it?

It is a custom font that displays our company logo. (you can see it in the third screenshot. Typing a capital "A" will display the logo, any other character displays a box.

Hi Michael,

Can you attach screenshot with technical info about this font in Font Book application?

Hi @greenwoodmike,

Can you share this font file to Autodesk? The font will be used for AutoCAD internal test only and we will not expose it to others.

My email is:

wei.ma@autodesk.com

Thanks,

Wei

Hi Mike,

Not sure is it exactly what you need, but can you test attached font I've made?

You need to uncompress it from ZIP archive.

Yes, but looks like it doesn't help to find why this font not work in AutoCAD.
Although I see that Language and Script fields are missing in font information.

Maxim, I installed the version you created, and it displays and prints!

However, it displays in the drawing and prints italicized, even though that setting has not been chosen. Now, it does not show Italicized in MS word.

I have not added Italic to the font, created it roughly, without any additional features.

Just came the thought - have you tried to change the height of your font? Maybe the logo is too small?

Can you share your font via email?

Here is how my "hand-made" font shows in:

MS Word - Regular and Italic:2017-07-20_17-09-27.png

AutoCAD:

2017-07-20_17-12-17.png

I also attached PDF printed from AutoCAD.

Mike,

I received your font and it seems I figured out the case of the issue.

When I opened it in FontForge application (font authoring tool) I got an alert:

2017-07-20_17-43-46 2.png

So I mapped capital A to unicode U+0041, recompiled font and now it should work in AutoCAD.

Please try it (I've sent it via email to you)

EDIT: Forgot to mention that your original font worked in AutoCAD, but only when you use TEXT or DTEXT command (single line). Modified version should work with MTEXT command too.

YES! We have success.

Fantastic! It works perfectly, Yeah Smiley Very Happy

I even opened up some of my other drawings that had that font type used, and it mapped correctly.

THANKS again Maxim (and all) for the help and quick responses.

I only have one question left - Where do I send the Beer?

Hello Maxim,

Well I screwed up! I recently got a new Mac, and did not save the IP.ttf file you fixed for me 3 years ago. I downloaded FontForge, and following your instructions tried to fix it myself, but have had no luck. I'm hoping you might still have the fixed version, or that you might be willing to fix it again for me.

Thanks!
