Font issue - ACAD LT 2024 for Mac

RangrStudio

When plotting a drawing (to pdf) the font changes to italic. The same drawing on the same computer works in Autocad LT 2023.

In LT 2024, the font displays correctly on screen, but the pdf output changes the font to an italic verision.

The font is Avenir.

Again, the same drawing plots correctly from the same machine using Acad 2023 or Acad 2022.

Please help.

Hi @casafradesign5MSTR ,

Do you have this problem in full AutoCAD (not LT)?

Where do you keep your drawings? Are they on the local drive or somewhere on the Network drive?

Hi Maxim,

That is correct, since I started using a trial for 2024 Autocad for Mac - full version the problem started.

The Files are saved in the computer's drive.

I hope this helps.

:cara_que_sonríe_con_ojos_sonrientes: Thanks

Hi @casafradesign5MSTR @RangrStudio ,

For some reason I cannot reproduce this issue on my side.

Could be some specific conditions on your Macs, which I don't have.

As a temporary workaround you can change settings for the Printer before printing:

I tried selecting "convert all text to geometry," but I still get bold-italicized text. Also trying different printer settings gives me the same output.

Acad 2022 doesn't have the problem, on the same machine, so that is my temporary work-around.

I have the same issue with text that the STYLE command would normally override the values, but now it isn't and the font is going bold and italic aerial instead. This wasn't an issue in 2023 LT for mac with the same drawings. Looks fine on screen but prints weird!

it seems to be an issue with the Mtext box. the box has the style applied, but if you go inside and select the individual text it has the wrong font. Is there a way to make the STYLE command override the text vaule?

I concur, the 'convert text to geometry' does not work for me either and the issue didn't exist with either 2023LT/2023 full version.

Hi Jasmit,

@RangrStudio

Well, I'm able to reproduce the issue with Avenir font on a Mac with M1 chip.

Looks like there is a bug in AutoCAD 2024 for Mac related to M1 chip.

The problem is that AutoCAD 2024 for Mac does not work correctly with TTC fonts - True Type Collection font - which is Avenir. It is possible to split this font to single TTF files, but Avenir font is a System font and you cannot substitute it with "custom" font with the same name.

I created normal variation of Avenir font  - Av.ttf - you can test it, it actually consists of the same glyphs as Avenir Book font, but has the different font name - Av. So it prints correctly from AutoCAD 2024.

I'm using a font called Poppins which is a TTF font with single files - still reverts to italics, bold, arial.

Hi @jonSRU48 ,

What Mac model do you have?

I installed 4 Poppins fonts that AutoCAD recognizes:

Poppins-Bold.ttf

Poppins-BoldItalic.ttf

Poppins-Italic

Poppins-Regular.ttf

from the Google Poppins font family and cannot reproduce the issue on M1 Mac.

See attached PDF

Thanks @maxim_k . Would I have to replace all my Avenir with the font you uploaded? The problem is we have a lot of symbol blocks with embedded text, that would take a long time.

I'm fine with waiting for an autocad update if that is coming. As i mentioned, I can just use Acad 2022 to print for now.

Hi @RangrStudio ,

Unfortunately you cannot replace Avenir font in macOS, because it is protected System font.

You need to edit Text Style in each drawing to substitute Avenir font with Av font.

So let's wait for the Update, meanwhile you can use AC 2022 for printing....

THIS works on both platforms - Intel and Silicon.

Thank you for all the messages.

I will open a new post/comment on existing regarding the still existing problem with MACS and Autocad - bottom left hand corner of screen still unresponsive in Autocad 2024. Hopefully that is also fixed with the new hotfix.

I've got the same issue with Trebuchet font, which is a built-in Mac OS font.  Plotting to PDF using Autocad's built-in PDF driver changes it to italic.  Tried changing USEQUARTZFONT from 1 to 0 but that had no affect.  Trubechet font plots as super bold italic even though it is regular Trebuchet in the dwg.  Doesn't matter if I used general or high quality PDF plotter.

2024.0.1 hotfix is available. Please click menu AutoCAD 2024 > Check for Updates to download it.

Note: If nothing happens when you click the menu, please make sure to enable AutoCAD notification in the macOS system preference panel.

Alternatively, you can also download it from your Autodesk Account portal.
