Exporting a BOM from AutoCAD LT Mac

Exporting a BOM from AutoCAD LT Mac

Hello.

I am trying to export a drawing and using blocks as the items in the drawing. I know you can export a Build of Materials from CAD but not sure entirely on how to on the MAC LT version. Just want to see a sheet that has the name of the block/inventory item as well as its quantity of that item in the drawing.

Thanks

That's certainly not an option in Autocad LT (windows), that's part of the dataextraction command in full Autocad, so I doubt it is available for Mac, the closest you get in LT is the attext command which will work with blocks that have an attribute and can extract information from block attributes, this needs an attribute extraction template (simple text file), but even that would only get you part way, it will extract the information but you still have to manually do any sorting and counting of the information. LT has no automation for that.

So I can at the least extract the data to something to just show what is in the drawing? Have no problem doing the counting and sorting manually but just extracting that data is huge if possible

The 'list' command maybe? you either select everything and list it all, or use the qselect or selectsimilar commands to just select blocks then use 'list' this gives you a lot of information about blocks including their name, so you would need to filter the unnecessary info and then count what is left.

I've seen someone do it on CAD LT on Windows, unfortunately the programs are very different it seems depending on what computer you are using which is very disappointing. Yeah List works like that but really wanted to be able to export an actual sheet of items. Maybe one day they will add something like that to LT

I very much doubt it, that's why LT is cheaper, those kinds of commands and automation are in full Autocad, you get what you pay for. And in LT you get methods to do these things manually.
