I have a CAD file that I would like to export in EPS and the LT for MAC 2020 program seems to only allow for PDF export.

Is there something I can do to export the image in EPS?

Thanks!

Hi @hanerZY6L7 ,

Save your drawing as PDF in AutoCAD.

Open PDF in Preview app, use menu File -> Print to open Print window.

Open PDF dropdown list and select "Save as PostScript":

You will get .PS file.

I have tried printing from Preview, but the file size is quite small. My assumption is that creating an EPS directly from CAD will create the best quality image, in this case for publication.

Greetings @paul8TSZ5

You'll need to find a 3rd party solution (or website) that can do conversions for you if the tools explained above are not what you seek for quality output (file size is not a good gauge of that BTW).

Thanks for confirming that. I now have access to a trial version of AutoCAD for Mac 2024, and while I can export the entire file as an EPS, there doesn’t seem to be an option to save each formatted drawing as an EPS. The Autodesk help sites suggest I should be able to add EPS as an option when setting up the plotter, but no wizard exists and I don’t see a way to manage plotters.

Is this related to printing from model space or the fact that this is a trial version or a mac version?

Paul

Hi Paul,

This information is about AutoCAD for PC. On Mac you can only add macOS System printers/plotters, but not in AutoCAD.

BTW, I tried to print from AutoCAD to PDF file and then save it as Post Script from standard macOS Print window and got quite acceptable result - PostScript file with vector data.
