ESC key not working for AutoCAD for mac 2015

Hi,

I've just started using AutoCAD and encountered this problem on the 2015 AutoCAD version for mac. The ESC suddenly stops working but works again when I close the drawing and reopen it, or open another drawing. I tried removing the 2015 version and installing the 2016 one but the problem still persists. I've looked on the internet for solutions and found that this can be because of Adobe Photoshop programs running in the background and hindering the working of the ESC key. However, I'm not having any Adobe Photoshop programs open. I also tried changing the values of variables such as PICKFIRST but this does not help either. 

Any suggestions?

Do you use additional input methods on your Mac? I mean other than US English?

Which input method is active when the ESC key stops to work?
