Having an issue with dropbox not displaying file thumbnails in mac finder.  All other files I've looked at have preview thumbnails so I assume it is a cad issue.  Has anyone experienced this?  It used to work and it has quit working.  What could I have done?

Hi,

Have you tried to reset View options for your Dropbox folder?

Yes I tried that.  No change.  Now I have noticed that files stored locally on my macbook will lose thumbnails when I open them and save them.

Only happening to dwg files.  I'll restart and reset.  Maybe a corrupt preferences file?  I just started noticing when my free dropbox account was

nearly full and I signed up for a paid account.  Maybe just a coincidence.

Are you able to quick view DWG files in Finder?

It appears you loose DWG file association with AutoCAD on your Mac.

You need to try this:

  1. in Finder locate one of DWG files, right-click on it and select "Get info"
  2. in Info window locate "Open with" section and select AutoCAD (which version you have) from drop down list (you may need to use "Other..." at the bottom of the list to locate AutoCAD on your Mac)
  3. 2015-05-06 07-17-30 3D House-mod.dwg Info.png
  4. then pick "Change all" button and confirm association.

Now test thumbnail appearance.

Maxim,

That was all already in place and still no thumbnail preview.  So I went into utilities and checked permissions.  There were some errors, so I clicked restore permissions.  Then I booted to safe mode.  Then rebooted to normal mode and mac finder is displaying dwg file thumnail previews.

Short version:  It is working now!

Thanks,

John
