Custom paper size quirks

When assisting another user with PDF printing, I noticed a small quirk with the "Manage Custom Sizes" option when setting up paper sizes. It appears there are two dialogues in the various print options, one of which isn't as featured as the other.

Starting with the Print option from the File menu, the Print dialogue (Print Dialogue.png) has a paper selection drop down accessible immediately. If I select "Manage Custom Sizes" I am presented with a new window (Print Dialogue Manage Sizes.png). This window doesn't allow me to add a papersize from the builtin list.

However if I close this window and click Edit Page Setup, I am shown another paper selection drop down. Selecting Manage Custom Sizes here I am shown a slightly different window to the previous one (Page Setup Manage Sizes.png). If I click the + now, I can select papersizes from a builtin list.

Both these windows should have the same functionality.

Lastly, it seems impossible to arrange the custom papersizes in alphabetical or numerical order in the second window. It doesn't matter which order they are added to the list, they seem to jumble up. This can be seen in the screen captures attached. The window that wont permit papersizes from a builtin list does stay in alphabetical order, but the other wont. The two lists do appear to be linked together.

Hello @ntombling

I believe you are working on AutoCAD in a MAC environment. This feature may seem odd, it is purposely designed like that. Here are additional articles explaining the purpose for page setup and print settings.

The issue I'm illustrating is purely the "Custom Paper Size" dialogue box. There are two custom paper size dialogues accessible within the printing/page setup that appear the same, but don't work exactly the same.

The image "Page Setup Manage Sizes.png" has additional functionality with the [+ v] button below the paper list. This dialogue however cannot reorder the paper size list (they seem to appear in a random order).

The image "Print Dialogue Manage Sizes.png" only has a [+] button that doesn't have a list attached to it. This dialogue seems to maintain an ordered list of custom paper.

Both dialogues show the same paper sizes as well, which seems to indicate one dialogue is a legacy one that hasn't been removed or updated. They both should have the same functionality.

@ntombling Thank you for illustrating your issue. I'm sure you are aware that this is a "As Designed" feature in AutoCAD for the MAC. I would recommend you leave your thoughts on this feature at the Product Feedback Site.

You might also want to sign up for our Beta testing program, feedback like yours is greatly appreciated.

To register in this Beta program please click the link below.
https://beta.autodesk.com/callout/?callid={3DB2196C-EDE5-4663-96A4-C5E7A81CBC9C}

What can I do in Beta?
- Download the Beta version of AutoCAD for Mac and try the new features.
- Provide feedback directly to the development team, including bugs, ideas, feature requests, etc.
- Get timely response from the development team.

Thank you for a great dialogue and have a wonderful day. Emoticono feliz

Thanks for the feedback link. I didn't know it existed. I was in the beta, but it's difficult to find problems in the limited time. The Autodesk staff involved also couldn't address all issues either with their deadlines too.

Hi ntombling,

I recieved your email and read this post. I understand your point and agree that we need to make the two dialogs consistent and support useful functions on both. I have noted down the issue you mentioned, and will try to get it in our priority.

The Alpha/Beta for the next version is not available yet. When it is open for registration, we will send notification in this forum, floating on Top.

Thanks,
Wei
