Can somebody please tell me if I need to do something with downloaded/custom hatch .pat files (i.e. is it something to do with the file format or wording in the pattern file)??

I have several patterns that worked for me for years on Windows version and also some new ones I'm trying to use. I have them installed in a a separate folder and am able to pick them in the hatch dialogue box, but when I go to actually press OK to apply them, they won't preview or apply and I get the message "Alert Error in reading the pattern file".

It's driving me mad - I'm trying to finish a produject and have got a huge headache!!

Hi @steviewo76 ,

I now that some hatch patterns, especially complex, that are usable in Windows version of AutoCAD don't work on Mac.

Can you share one of the problem PAT files here?

Hi - I've actually found one that works, but its really slowing down my machine.

However, here are. couple that won't work - one is complex and one is relatively simpler.

PAT files are simple text files. Add a blank line to the end of both files and eliminate the blank line following *OSAGE in the larger.

AutoCAD is unforgiving of files that do not follow quite unnecessarily stringent formatting requirements.

Thanks @hugha - but still doesn't seem to work for me.

Do you use the TextEDit programme on Mac for .pat files? By default it tries to use MS Word.

Hi @steviewo76 ,

Both hatch patterns works on my Mac (AutoCAD 2023 for Mac), if I use ACADISO.DWT template to create new drawing, then I get this result:

Indeed, OSAGE.PAT slowing down AutoCAD for Mac and you cannot do nothing about it. You need to look for a similar, but less complex hatch pattern.

Very strange - now appears to be working. So - I started a new blank drawing and applied them, then copied and pasted from the new drawing into the previous drawing I had been trying them in and they worked.
