CTB issues when plotting, is it a file level problem?

CTB issues when plotting, is it a file level problem?

A strange issue is occurring on a colleague's work station.

CTB file path has been verified in ACAD preferences. Calling "stylesmanager" shows the CTB file exists in the local directory shown in preferences. However...

Lineweight hierarchy does not appear when plotting. Previewing, plotting to PDF and plotter output all show someting like a monochrome style. Opening the file on my workstation, where I have not experienced this issue, yields the same result when plotting. Toggling "Show/Hide Lineweights" also does not show the hierarchy I would expect to see.

Additionally:

CTB is recognized in Layout Page Setup.

Layer manager colors are identical in model space and active viewports.

All layer manager lineweights set to default in model space and active viewports.

File has been purged and audit shows no errors.

When first notified of this issue, I saw the CTB was missing and then copied this into the local Plotstyles folder. Is there another step to "refresh" the file's cache or something? What else am I missing here? Anybody else experiencing this issue?

Many thanks,

M

Hi @Anonymous,

Have you tried using the PLOTSTYLE command and clicking "Import..." in the drop down menu? It should do the same thing as copying the .ctb into the Printer Support File Path folder, but importing may prompt it to actually adopt the plot style settings.

You could also try resetting to defaults on the workstation in question, to zero out any edited plot-related settings. Also, check that the workstation is current with the latest AutoCAD for Mac updates

Did you test the CTB with other files to see if it actually works as everyone is assuming it should?
Can you share your CTB file here and a portion of the one drawing that seems to be ignoring it?

Can I accept my own reply as a solution? It ended up being something stupid as usual. Somebody had checked the "scale lineweights" box in the pagesetup dialogue. Then I guess someone else unchecked the "print object lineweights" box when they ran into problems with plotting. Unchecking these boxes and being sure all geometry in the background was set to "By Layer" fixed the problem. And it only took an hour to figure that out.

Thanks for the suggestions Chris and pendean. Nice to see you, pendean. You're a legend, man.
