Copyclip and Copybase fail when pasting - AutoCAD 2013 LT for Mac

When trying to copy and paste a drawing element from one file to another via copyclip or copybase, the pasted drawing element is repalced by a string of text. In example: /private/var/folders/.../..../T/TemporaryItems/A$C###.DWG. Digging through the hidden filders I can get to the A$C###.DWG file and it is the drawing element I am trying to copy and paste.

Aside from abandoning copyclip and copybase in favor of writing out and inserting my own temporary blocks for every drawing element I want to copy and paste is there a better workaround?

Autodesk - is a fix on the way?

Hi Matt,

Strange thing, but I can not reproduce this on my Mac.

I get such behavior when I copy something from AutoCAD and paste to TextEdit.app - yes, then I get full path to temporary DWG file as a text string.

Where did you purchase AutoCAD LT for Mac - in Mac App Store or from Autodesk (resellers)?

Have you installed AutoCAD LT 2013 Service Pack 1 (Mac)?

Have you tried to reinstall application?

Could you share one of the files, that contain elements you copy from it and trying to paste to another file? (you can delete all geometry in this file except elements you trying to copy if you are worried for confidentiality)

Hi Maxim,

My copy of Autocad 2013 LT is from the mac app store. The product version is G.55.M.108 and there aren't any pending updates listed in the mac app store.

I have not reinstalled Autocad yet, but can try that.

I've attached a file for you to check out, but I just tried opening a new document, drawings one line and copying that into a second new file and I get the same string of text.

Thanks for the help.

Of course, I am able to copy-paste from your file on my Mac, so the problem could be in corrupted installation.
Do you have this problem just after the initial installation of AutoCAD LT? Or it began to appear some time later?
It appears that AutoCAD on your Mac in some case can not determine correctly the contents of System clipboard.
It's interesting that I can reproduce such behavior if I copy some objects from AutoCAD for Mac and trying to paste the contents of clipboard to Ares Commander Edition (AutoCAD clone, which I have on my Mac).

Hi,

I see this issue by hovering the cursor over the command line window and paste, then i see the string pasted in command line.

If this is what you see, please move the cursor over the canvas before paste.

Please see if this solve the problem.

Thanks,
Wei

Hi Wei,

I'm not pasting the drawing element into the command line. I get the error when I paste it anywhere in modelspace or paperspace.

Hi Matt,

Do you have any Clipboard managers installed on your Mac?

Such as:

PopClip, xClipboard, CopyClip, etc. (from MAS)

or something from there:

Genius!

I have FormatMatch running on my Mac, disabled it and copyclip and copybase work just fine. Thanks so much for the help!

Hi Matt,

Good news, I'm glad that issue was resolved finally!

I have PopClip application from MAS, and I noticed that it doesn't work correctly with AC for Mac too. Fortunately there is a setting in PopClip that allows to disable it for one individual application, I've disable it for AutoCAD and still use for others.
