Copy layers to spreadsheet copies filename instead

Hello,  some of our students are showing me that they can't copy the info from the layer manager panel into an excel spreadsheet, when they copy the info from the layer manager and paste with cmd+v, it pastes /tmp/filename.dwg instead f the layer info.  Can anyone help use figure this out?
