Converting 3D DWG TO 2D DWG

Hi guys. I'm bit of a novice when it comes to AutoCAD so I hope someone can help.

I have some 3D DWG files of office seating that were created by someone else and need to create overhead plan view 2D DWG versions of these. 

If I simply open in AutoCAD (I have a 30 day trial) and export to a file as a dwg via the FLATSHOT command, will this create the best version. Or can someone recommend a better process? See image.

Hi Rick,

In AutoCAD for Mac this will be the best and practically only one fast solution, because FLATTEN command and Model Documentation (https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/AutoC...) not available in AutoCAD for Mac.
