Changing the sheet layout color from grey to black

I’m unable to change my layout color from grey to black. I’ve tried what it’s saying to do with the help desk and it doesn’t work. 

I am also trying to turn off printable area and paper background in my layout tab. 
Here is a picture of what it currently looks like. 

With windows it’s just right click and under options. All I’m seeing in my pretences menu is to change the paper space color, not turning it off.

Hi Samantha,

If you have full AutoCAD version (not LT), you can change settings for Layout with these two AutoLISP statements:

(setenv "ShowPrintBorder" "0")
(setenv "ShowPaperBackground" "0")

 While in Model, copy strings above to clipboard and paste to AutoCAD command window, hit Return.

Switch to Layout and look at the results.

To revert back to default, use these AutoLISP statements:

(setenv "ShowPrintBorder" "1")
(setenv "ShowPaperBackground" "1")

Will I need to copy and paste those commands each time or will it automatically save? 
also, is there a way to get rid of this dashed line box in the bottom corner? This is a picture of what it looks like now.

Hi 

You don't need to copy-paste these commands each time, this settings are saved permanently unless you revert them back manually.

To remove paper margins (dotted rectangle) you need to use this AutoLISP statement:

Command: (setenv "ShowPaperMargins" "0")

BTW, due to the fact that you showed that dotted rectangle in your drawing, I noticed that you have incorrect Page Setup for Layout: paper size assigned to Layout is smaller than Title block you are using. Of course, you can use such setup, but it would be more correct to adjust the paper size according to Title block you are using.

Ok, thank you so much again! 

How do I change the size of the page setup to the correct one ? That original template was made on a windows computer, and it just automatically looked like that when I opened it on my mac.

Changing some of the options are so different between a windows and mac. So much easier on a windows computer.

On Mac you use the same command as on PC - PAGESETUP:

Menu File -> Page Setup Manager.
Page Setup Manager dialog looks a bit different then in Windows version, but it makes the same job.
+ button will add new Page Setup
"gear" menu on the bottom of Page Setup list allows you to Edit and manage selected Page Setup.
You can change paper size in Page Setup dialog which you can open from Page Setup Manager.
