Changing double-click action on blocks

I would like to change the double-click action on blocks to the simple attribute editor (ATTEDIT) rather than the so-called enhanced attribute editor (EATTEDIT) - which is actually much slower to use if you only want to fill in or change attribute values.

I found an earlier post 5422445#M13595 on the subject so it seems it is possible, but its not clear how to do it. Could someone (Maxim Emoticono feliz) could give a step by step instruction on how to do this?  I have found menugroup.cui  but no idea where doubleclickroot.cui resides, both are referenced in the post.

Thanks

Hi,

DoubleClickRoot.cui is inside AutoCAD application, here is the path to the folder:
/Applications/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2016/AutoCAD 2016.app/Contents/Resources/

But I don't recommend you to edit it.
If you don't need to use EATTEDIT command via Menu or via ToolSets palette, you can edit "Edit Attribute..." command in CUI editor and change macro from ^C^C_eattedit to ^C^C_attedit as showing here:

Restart AutoCAD - quit it completely and launch again.

Now when you will double-click on block with attribute Simple attribute editor will be opened.

BTW - I practically neve use double click on blocks to edit attributes, I always use Ctrl + double click on attribute itself (hold Ctrl key on keyboard and double click on attribute I want to edit). This gives me an opportunity to edit attribute value "in-place".
You can try this workflow too.

Thanks so much Maxim, that is going to improve my life a lot!

I'll have a go with the Ctrl+double click you mention, but generally I am editing a bunch of attributes in a single block, so being able to type values and tab between fields in sequence is what I am after.

cheers, Keith
