Cannot specify base (or other) points by clicking on drawing (AutoCAD Mac 2023)

I started getting this problem yesterday after having purchase a monthly  subscription to AutoCAD for Mac a few days earlier. I'm working on a large drawing for a power plant. (MacBook Air, M2, 2022, 16GB RAM)

The screenshot below is my cursor after having given the command to copy an object with a base point. When I click to specify the point, nothing at all happens - it doesn't specify the point - it just sits there as is. This same malfunction happens if I create a circle with the "c space" command. And with other commands.

When this happens, the only way that I can specify the point is to input coordinates. I click away all over the place - nothing happens.

I know the trackpad works because it's working with a bunch of other AutoCAD functions.

Seems to me like a bug.

Any help would be welcome.

Thanks so much.

perhaps troubleshoot by plugging in a mouse just to be sure it's not your trackpad causing the problem.

also may want to post in mac forum:

I’m working on a large layout of a power plant. I purchased AutoCAD on a monthly subscription about a week ago and everything was working fine. This problem started yesterday.

If I’m in model space there are several situations that I cannot specify a point by just clicking on that point. For example, if I want to copy an object with a base point, or draw a circle or a line and I enter the command, AutoCAD asks to specify the initial point (see screen shots). But when I try to enter that point by clicking at a certain location, nothing happens at all, and the curser with its text just remains as if I haven’t done anything.

But it’s a bit erratic. If I want to copy a circle with a base point, although I cannot just click anywhere for that base point, I can click on the handle in the center of the circle and the command executes normally. But if I click on any of the handles at the quadrants nothing happens. Likewise, if the center has been specified as the base point, and I then paste that circle into the drawing, although the circle appears around the cursor as you would expect, I cannot just click anywhere in the drawing , or click to any OSNAP point to specify the insertion point- in these cases nothing at all happens. The only way I am able to specify the insertion point is to enter coordinates by hand.

I’ve tried with a bunch of different layers - same results.

The cursor/click works fine in paper space to specify points.

Looks like a bug to me, but I don’t have a lot of experience with AutoCAD.

Is there maybe some setting that I could adjust to fix this?

The software and operating system are up-to-date. I’ve restarted the laptop, and AutoCAD.

Thanks so much.

Hi @ashkaldun ,

Do you have this problem in all of your drawings? Even in newly created?

Or is it just one particular drawing?

Have you tried to relaunch AutoCAD? Restart your Mac?

@ashkaldun

What do you see in AutoCAD Command window when you "click anywhere for that base point"?

Is it only in one drawing?

If yes, can you share it here?

Thanks All - looks like the problem only occurred on that one file, so I just started a new one and so far so good.
