Hi All,

 

I am running AutoCAD LT 2016 for mac (Version M.48.M.617 Update 3) on macOS Sierra (10.12). I upgraded my MacBook Pro's OS to Sierra when it was released recently. Since updating when I plot layouts in paper space any raster images that were attached to XREF files appear as black boxes. The issue does not occur when printing the same raster images from the reference file in model space.

 

I've attached an image capturing the issue, a screen shot of my page setup, print dialog, and also pasted below the Plot and Publish Job Complete dialog.

Ok, sorry, I wasn't in Autocad for Mac menu. But I got in and the last update I can see is the 3, which is from a year ago and I already had installed...

Hi @Anonymous,

 

I am guessing that you are on 64-bit. The Hotfix shouldn't hurt anything if that is not the case. I would go ahead and start with the 64-bit version. Please let me know how this works for you.

 

Go Ahead with Hotfix 4 and let me know if the Blackboxes disappear in your PDFs

The 64-bit file is a dll file, not for Mac I think. In Autocad for Mac updates the last one is the 3, which is one year old and I had already installed back then...

Hi @Anonymous,  I apologize, Hotfix 4 is for AutoCAD for Mac 2016 (the current release).

 

Yes, the most current Update for 2015 is 3 which will not resolve this issue. That leaves you only a couple of options:

 

  • Rollback Sierra
  • or, Upgrade to the current AutoCAD for Mac version
  • or, go through the other settings in this thread that basically remove any Custom Sheet Sizes.

I hope in another option.. _I hope Autodesk will release an update for 2015 version (is not too old yet..) to solve the problem.. why not?

Please tell us if an update will be released or not, is so important. Thanks, Carlo (LT15 for Mac)

HI @Anonymous,

 

IMHO, it is highly unlikely that there will be a fix for legacy products. AutoCAD 2015 runs great on the OS for which it was designed. AutoCAD for MAC 2017 has been released so I would guess that the emphasis has been placed there.

it is not acceptable that a company like Autodesk, might not support a 1.5/2 years old software....

is the last standalone version, the should support it for at least 3-4 years.
I am incredulous to the lack of consideration for professional customers who invest in the original software, really not acceptable.

I am happy to say that the team has a Hotfix that should take care of the Sierra compatibility for you.  You can find Update 4 here.

I am having the same problem when attaching an image to my drawing when plotting or printing to PDF, a black box appears around my image. Is there any way around this other than publish? How else can you attach a JPG image into your drawing without a black box around it??

Hi Daniel,

This topic is rather old and refers to the problem in the 2016 version of AutoCAD for Mac.
Which version you are using? Please specify also macOS version installed on your Mac.
Do you have this issue with every image or with just one specific image?
Can you share the image which cases the problem?

I did solve the issue in my case, I had to change the printer I was using
to plot with. I was using adobe pdf and once I used an actual plotter the
black boxes stopped appearing. It was a very frustrating issue!

Hello Sir, 

I am using Windows 10 and didn't realize this was a mac forum. 

Attached are some images proving that after I "imageattach" a JPG file, when I go to Plot, there is a black box that surrounds the image.

What settings do you have for IMAGEFRAME system variable?
I'd suggest you to set it to "2", then you will be able to see the border around image in the drawing area, but it will not be plotted.
