Hi, really need to convert a file to dwg from bak, can someone direct me.

Also, I need ot know why a drawing I have been working on since February was converted to bak when I saved it last? Does this normally happen? Many Thanks. Glenn Behan

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Glenn,

In order to be able to open backup copy of the drawing (the file with .BAK extension) you just need to rename it in Finder:
- locate file you want to rename in Finder
- select it by clicking on it with mouse
- hit Return, than select BAK extension and replace with DWG, verify that there is a dot between file name and DWG extension
- answer "change to .dwg":

AutoCAD creates backup copy of the drawing by default each time you use QSAVE command. Could be so that you accidentally deleted original DWG, but its BAK copy remains on your Mac.

I can't imagine accidenatlly deleting a drawing however, when double click the bak file I get the following, and when, is there another application to open it, LT is not highlighted for opening.

Thanks

Of course you should get this. But as I wrote in my first response, you need to rename (change extension) of the bak file to dwg, than you will be able to open it in AutoCAD by double-clicking on it in Finder.
