AutoSave problems

Hello.

I have a problem with Autosave since updating to AutoCAD LT 2017.  I've never had a problem with retrieving Autosaved back up files.

In Preferences Application The Automatic Save file location is users/*myname*/documents/ Autodesk/Autosave.  When I try and find this file it doesn't exist.

As i say, this has never been problem before and Autocad LT has been crashing a lot recently and I am losing crucial work because of this issue.

Please help!

Neil

Hi Neil,

Autosave works fine on my system.
users/*myname*/documents/ Autodesk/Autosave is not a file, but the path to the folder with name "Autosave".
If you don't have such folder on your Mac, try to create it, than AutoCAD will be able to use it as autosave folder.
Alternately you can create special folder inside your Home folder for AutoCAD autosave and change the default path for Autosave folder in AutoCAD preferences to this newly created folder.

I don't have an issue on my end. I've come across another thread where the user created a LISP to run every time AutoCAD would open to ensure that his files were being saved.

Let me see if I can find that thread or an article to help.

Did @ maxim_k post help answer your question?

Is this happening with all your projects?

I also have this problem. Autocad 2017 Mac will not autosave. I have reset and tried the savetime command and it still will not autosave, no matter which folder I choose.

Hi Kristin,

Which macOS do you have on your Mac.
I have no problems with Autosave in on High Sierra.

Hi @kristinabhalter,

How do you check the autosave function? Please note the following tips:

- autosave will not be triggered until the savetime is up.

- the savetime is in minutes.

- default save path is under ~/Documents/Autodesk/Autosave/

- when savetime is up, autosave on Mac will not be triggered if autocad is keeping in a model dialog, or if no user action at all. Just run any command or select anything in canvas will trigger the autosave on Mac.

- also important to know that the existing autosaved files for a drawing will be removed once you save the drawing manually, for example, run qsave.

Thanks,

Hi Wei,

>>>> if autocad is keeping in a model dialog...

Did you mean "modal dialog"?
