Autocad mac keeps freezing

Since a couple of weeks ACAT freezes randomly when I draw a simple line or do any other random action.

It happens in multiple projects so it is not a corrupted file.

Sometimes it's even every 10 min which is extremely frustrating.

I tried contacting support and did a full reinstall. Still the same problems.

What happens is that it starts showing the colourful loading disc and then the cpu usage rockets to >100.

I tried letting it do it's thing hoping it will unfreeze at some point but the only option is force quit and lose progression up to the last save point. I tried turning off auto save (I thought maybe it freezes when autosave and a some other action occurs simultaneously), no difference.

I'm pretty desperate and about to quit using ACAT at this point as I cannot finish anything as long as this problem persists.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Edit: Autocad Mac 2025, files are stored in onedrive

Hi @max_kusters ,

Please specify your AutoCAD for mac version (2024, 2025 or...).

What macOS installed on your Mac?

Do you work with drawings saved locally or somewhere on the network drive?

@max_kusters ,

1/ Ensure that you installed latest Update.

2/ Try to work with drawings stored somewhere inside your Home folder, not synced with Internet services (OneDrive, iCloud, Dropbox, etc.)

@maxim_k thank you for your reply.
I've got the latest version running and regularly check for updates.
I'll try working from local directories. I've been working from the same Onedrive for months which worked flawless up to a couple weeks ago. Any idea how that could've changed recently?

@max_kusters ,

Not sure, but look at the articles I have found:

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Files-stored-in-On...

and

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Program-crashes-us...

From the second link:

"AutoCAD products randomly crash or freeze

....Issue:
Users reported that while using AutoCAD product, the program randomly crashes or freezes. Some of the most common symptoms are:

...The program stops functioning where nothing can be done within it....

Causes:

...Delays caused by synchronization from OneDrive..."

I paused onedrive syncing, it worked for a while but it still crashes. I made sure I have the latest updates for both macos and autocad.

Hi @max_kusters ,

Does it crash (freeze) even with simple, just created, drawings?

If yes - do you use custom template(s) for your drawings?

Can you share one of your drawings that is causing the crash?

Would it help to upload a crash report? I copied one into a .txt the other day

I'm not sure because we are all regular AutoCAD users like you and we don't understand the technical issues of crashes.
