AutoCAD LT keeps opening Help website internet while I'm working

I was wondering if there is any way to turn off a setting in AutoCAD to prevent it from opening the internet help website when I've slightly mis-hit my keyboard or mousepad. I'm in the middle of working and will slightly tap my mousepad or my keyboard and it will open up Safari to the help website. I don't need help, and then, by the end of my work session, I have like 80 tabs open on the help website, because it won't stop. Is there a setting I can just turn off connecting to the help website?

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi @jacksonvanmatreT52Z7

Do you mean you frequently hit F1 key or Help button on Touch Bar (if you have Touch Bar on your Mac and use it with AutoCAD) by mistake?

I yes, then it is possible to assign other then Help command to it.

What AutoCAD LT version do you have on your Mac?

Do you have Touch Bar on your Mac? If yes, is it enabled for AutoCAD?

Hey Maxim,

Thanks for your quick reply! I have AutoCAD LT 2021. I do also have the touchpad at the top of my keyboard. I find it happens a lot when I'm dragging something on my trackpad in my drawing, or sometimes when I'm right clicking. I can't even pinpoint when it's happening specifically, but I will just be in the middle of a command and it will open Safari. It does usually center around using my trackpad, I do know this. It just constantly opens the homepage for AutoCAD LT 2021 for Mac Help.

So, you don't touch Help (or F1) button on Touch Bar when Safari opens with AutoCAD Help. Am I correct?

>>>when I'm dragging something on my trackpad in my drawing
Do you mean you move objects in the drawing? Or just panning around with Trackpad with two finger drag?
What options do you have enabled for Trackpad in macOS System Preferences?

Correct! I definitely am not hitting those. Which is the weirdest part!

Do you have any special software for Trackpad installed on your Mac? Something like BetterTouchTool?

Hi @darby ,

This topic is old enough and  @jacksonvanmatreT52Z7 have not answered all my questions here.

Can you provide more details about your problem?

Hi @Anonymous ,

>>>>> It keeps opening Help website randomly while I'm working..

Do you press any buttons on your keyboard before the help page opens?

Which Help page opens?

Do you have secondary mouse click configured to repeat last command?

Just loaded AutoCAD 2020 LT for Mac on a MacBook Pro 2020 running Big Sur 11.6 and this is also happening. I have a touch strip with no modifying apps or settings. Very annoying. How do I shut this off!??!?!?!?!?!

Hi @Anonymous ,

I can repeat my questions, I asked @Anonymous :

Which Help page opens?

Do you have secondary mouse click configured to repeat last command?

No, don't have secondary mouse click configured to repeat last command.

Looks like something force AutoCAD to call 'HELP command inside other commands.
Not sure what it is though....

I believe I've solved it? I think this was user error! And kinda silly UI?

By default, the Touch Bar is set to change to change its functionality with
whatever app is open. In the case of AutoCAD, the "Help" icon is set to be
at the far left of the Touch Bar, right next to the ESC button (worst place
ever...) Like many users, I often have my left hand hovering somewhere
around that area and I think I may have been passing a finger close to the
Touch Bar which was setting off the Help icon.

I went to Preferences and changed the Touch Bar so that it no longer
changes per app, but always just displays a "Expanded Control Strip" which
is similar to the previous Macbook type strip (Brightness, Gather Windows,
etc).

So for now, it's been better-- try changing this setting and seeing if it
solves the issue? I'll keep an eye on this as well.
