Autocad Lt 2017

Autocad Lt 2017

I'm trying to learn AutoCAD LT for beginners. I am starting an internship with a design firm and they've asked me to learn the basics of LT. They directed me to the Lynda.com site for tutorials. My issue is that Lynda appears to be teaching from AutoCAD LT 2016. The free trial I downloaded is AutoCAD LT 2017. The user interfaces are quite different. For example, the standard tabbed ribbon isn't there, which is the starting point for everything. Is there a way to download AutoCAD LT 2016? Or are there tutorials (video) specific to AutoCAD LT 2017? Also, it should be noted that I'm using a Mac and I'm confused about where I should be posting this question. Is it best answered here or in the AutoCAD for Mac users forum?

are you using Autocad LT for MAC or are you running windows on your MAC and running Autocad LT on windows?

Autocad LT for MAC and Autocad LT are different products & have different interfaces

Darren is very right- the videos you are watching are likely referring to the Windows presentation of LT 2017.  You will want to either find videos showing the Mac presentation (as Darren says, it is NOT the same as the Windows interface) or run Windows on your Mac so you can use the Windows version of LT.

The firm you are going to work with, do they use Mac or Windows versions of CAD?  That is probably the place to start; make sure you are using the same operating system, or you will not have built the base of knowledge you want and they expect.

Lynda (and almost all other websites) offer tutoring for the WIndowsOS: or mac, you're pretty much limited to obscure sites and old books.

Is the office where you inter on MACs? If not, go get yourself a WIndows PC to do your learning, or buy/load WIndows on your MAC and get the LT for Windows instead https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+run+windows+on+a+mac

Thanks - These are very helpful responses. My employer runs AutoCAD LT on a windows platform. I'm looking into using Boot Camp to run windows off of my iMAC ('09 model). I'm concerned that my iMAC may be a bit outdated to perform well in this situation as it can only support Windows 7.1. I'm torn between getting a new computer and whether it should be a PC or if I can still operate in MAC with a newer system that can partition and handle the newest Windows OS. Apologies if I've ventured into MAC forum territory at this point.

LT2017 is supported in Win7.1 if that helps.

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD for Mac forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

As you are trying to learn the Mac Version, you might consider some of the videos here on YouTube - they are titled AutoCAD for Mac Training Series

I hope this gets you started.
