Hi

I have recently installed Autocad LT2017 on my mac, but having upgraded to Sierra (to stop it crashing) I am no longer able to print. This is both to my printer or as a PDF

Any help/thoughts appreciated

You'll probably have better luck with this Q over in the AutoCAD for Mac forum.

I'll ask for it to be moved, at the discretion of the mods.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

Are you able to print from applications other than AutoCAD?

If - yes, than:

Have you tried to reset or reinstall (uninstall and than install again) AutoCAD?

Are you able to use Batch Publish?
I mean do you have PDF or Print output when you print with Batch Publish?

When you print with Batch Publish, AutoCAD doesn't use OS printing system. That is why it can print with Batch Publish.

So looks like there is some issue between AutoCAD and current state of macOS printing system. You can try to Reset printing system in macOS System Preferences:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203343

Look for step #4 in "If your Mac has some other issue with your printer or scanner" section.

This will remove all printing software and you will need to install it again. Try to find the latest printing software compatible with Sierra for your print devices - you may look for it on the printer/plotter manufacturer's website.

After reinstalling printing software you can test Print functionality in AutoCAD again.

So it looks like if I remove my physical printers (canon laser etc.) I can print a PDF, but if i reinstall them I can no longer!

My only thought is that my printers are shared from a mac that is still on an earlier OS?

The case may be in "sharing" nature of the system printer you are using regardless the OS on the host machine from this printer is shared.
This could be a bug in AutoCAD for Mac or in specific printer software.
I had the similar issue with shared printer hosted on Windows based machine. I was not able to use this printer in any app on my Mac after turning it on until I went to the MacOS System Preferences and manually "reinable" that shared printer.
But I have not tried to print to it from AutoCAD.

Thanks again Maxim - apologies for the delayed response

I need to try some options of installing printers locally and see if that makes a difference.

Im having other issues too but it is really frustrating when you pay all that money and it just does not work properly - time spent getting the software to work means less time doing the work it was bought for!!

obviously not your fault so thanks for your help so far

I guess ill mark this as resolved for now and come back if things are still not working

thank you
