AUTOCAD LT 2015 USES 100%CPU!!!???

I´ve recently bought a new macbook pro retina 15" mid 2015 2,5ghz i7 quad core with 16GB RAM and 512GB drive with AMD GPU and Autocad for mac LT 2015 revs up the fans constantly, and in iStat Menus autocad shows up using 100% plus of the CPU with average temperatures of the computer reaching 85ºC constantly. Autocad LT 2015 is a desktop subscription.

My mid 2014 15" rmbp with 2,8ghz i7 with 750m GPU NVIDIA runs cooler without the fans spinning up so much at an average temperature of 72ºC, and runs a perpetual license of autocad for mac 2015 LT perpetual license.

Both macbooks are connected to external Samsung  27" display 1980x1080  via hdmi port.

Any idea why the recent macbook pro with AMD heats up so much and shows 100%+ CPU usage? Both laptops work on the same project with the same files .

Thank you

AutoCAD 2015 LT on that rMBP shows that there is no update available, it is up to date.

I downloaded that AutoCAD version in late July as a trial version and I'm running it now as monthly subsciption.

Hi

I write 1st time so hello :).

I have similiar problem, but with AutoCad form Mac 2014 and 2015 (not LT) edu ver.

100+ CPU usage

Since 1 month ago I drawing on AutoCad for Mac 2014 about 1 year

I had

MacBook Air
i7 1,8 4 cores, 4GB Ram, SSD, Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB.

I had many slowing problems. Slow reaction for many commands, slow work generaly on bigger dwg’s with some hatches, solids, pdf’s imported, etc.
I thought to my self, the reason is for shure hardwere. So I bought:

Mac Pro 5,1
3,46 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon, 24 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC
, SSD (as fast as in new „black tubes”), AMD Radeon HD 7970 3072 MB.

Imagine my confused, when I did not see big change.
I bought it also to fluent work on many apps in the same time (Pages, Preview (on large pdf its terible to view some arch maps or large drawings, i thought that problems with viewing and eiting in Preview and Pages will apear, but not), Mail, Numbers, iPhoto, Safari)
I write about many apps, becouse maby OSX is not multitask as I expect?!?! I dont know

Problem I had on MacBook Air on AutoCad form Mac 2014 and also on 2015
Slow work generaly
Many many many times craches on very simple commands (I always screened crashes and send to autodesk)
Many times hangs for qouple of minutes or even some times half an hour and finaly i had to „hard close”.
Very slow swithing betwin layers and model

Problem now on AutoCad for Mac 2015
Long opening layer list (command+4)
When open, lasy writing layer name to filter (i write in 1 sec., and waiting about 3 sec to see what I wrote and see reaction (anyway i saw such thing on Pages on Air and on Pro in bigger docs)
Little but confused pauses between pan and zoom commands on Model space, and much longer on Layer space on large paper sizes (on my old Toshiba on PC i dont remember such things on 2d drawing. Only on 3d). Maby is it becouse i set my layouts on 300 DPI and had 100 x 70 cm, but i bought good hardwere to solve these problems :cara_asombrada:

I of course switched Open GL.
I tryed to repair my dwg’s many times during make some project (i mean AUDIT; PURGE; All explode; Save as DXF12) and it didnt help.
I have these problems on dwg’s started on Mac (not on PC)

My ideas
Is it posilble, that layers name are problem. I have in all layers text: „ŁO A …..”
Could be the problem? First i asking, becouse its a lot of work to change all layer names

Could blocks be the problem? As i said, i tried expolde all and it didnt help (mayby a little but wasn't enought fluent), but maby my observing was wrong (You know, testing AC is not my job i do this on side). What is Your opinion about it?

My other questions:
1. How can I export / import my interface from one Mac to onother and from one AC2014 to onother AC2015 on the same comp.?
2. Can i import list of layers from some editable format like simple notepad or excel?

Olá,

i had the cpu 100%+ usage only on the latest 2015 rmb with amd 2gb video card. Since the last update (v4) to all autocad versions (LT and regular) i have not seen again that behaviour.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,
To say true, I don't have such problems with AutoCAD on the same hardware as yours (Mac Pro late 2013) with my drawings. Maybe because my drawings are different from yours. I think my drawings are complex enough.
Do you use Parametric constraints in your drawings? Maybe you don't know about them: you can accidentally turn on Infer Constraints and everything in your drawing start to be constrained after this slowing down AutoCAD performance.
Maybe the case is in a quantity of Layers you have in your drawings, I usually have not more than 20 of them in the drawing.
Which visual style do you have current in the drawing? If it is different from 2D Wireframe, than you can see huge performance degradation in 2D drawings.

Now about your questions :
1. What do you mean by "import interface"? You can manually migrate custom commands, menu and Tool Sets palette customization by drilling into the CUI files. You can do this even between different AutoCAD versions.
2. To export Layers list from the drawing you can use command line version of LAYER command, just put dash in front of the command name:
-LAYER
Than use "?" option to output Layers list to Command window, than you can use "Copy history" from context menu in the Command prompt to copy it to clipboard and than paste to text editor.

I change Constraint Settings.

Did not help.

Always slow work. Now in isolate layer, inserting blocks to layouts. Very often I see colour "umbrella", and CPU is 100.

Now (after these changes), while only panning and zooming, the CPU is max about 50 %

I will try this week difrent graphic card. Mayby thats the reason.

I can'texport import CUI file.

I made it always on PC, but here i cant do that.

About import export layer list i mean, how can I import layer list to new dwg file? Can I?

Thanks!

ŁO

You need not only disable Infer Constraints, but also remove constraints from the drawing (if you have any of them). Use menu Parametric -> Delete Constraints, than type All to delete all constraints.

About Layer export- import: you can use Layer States, Have to say, that in AutoCAD for Mac Layer States Manager cannot export or import Layer States, but you can try AutoLISP routine from my blog:
