AutoCAD is intermittently pausing and freezing

I have the student version of AutoCAD 2018 and I have the MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) with MacOS High Sierra.

AutoCAD is pausing and freezing while using it, even with simple commands like move, scale, rotate (with every single one) it doesn't matter if it's a new document or an old one, it pauses and the colored circle appears for a few seconds, sometimes it freezes AutoCAD and I have to force quit the app, sometimes it freezes my computes and I have to shut it down. This thing is been happening for the last week and it only happens when I open AutoCAD.

I have tried a lot of thing to resolve this problem:

  • I update AutoCAD to the last version
  • I reset AutoCAD
  • I cleared the system cache
  • I reset the host name on the system
  • I tried to turned off the command “linesmoothing” but when I did that the selection box disappeared so I had to turned on again.
  • I uninstalled AutoCAD and installed again, I even tried with AutoCAD 2019 and the same thing keeps happening.

If anyone know something about it, please let me know. I have tried every single thing in the forums of Autodesk.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Maria,

Do you have "File sharing" enabled on Sharing pane of macOS System Preferences?
If no, try to enable it.
Go to menu Apple -> System Preferences -> Sharing and check-mark "File sharing" option on the left side.
Try to use AutoCAD.

What if you disconnect your Mac from Internet?

In your original post you wrote:
"This thing is been happening for the last week and it only happens when I open AutoCAD."
Assuming you didn't have performance problems in AutoCAD before this last week:
Did you do anything with the operating system just before this happened? Have you installed any software? Maybe you changed some settings in macOS System Preferences?

>>>>>>I uninstalled AutoCAD and installed again, I even tried with AutoCAD 2019 and the same thing keeps happening.
Did you use Clean Uninstall? ->

AutoCAD for Mac 2020 is also compatible with macOS High Sierra. Have you tried to install it?
