Autocad For Mac - Where does my drawing go when I set 1:20 scale in Layout 1?

Hi Everyone,

I am learning auto cad at the moment so please bear with me if this is an easy fix!

I have created a simple elevation drawing in my model space - the model space is set to 1.1 and I am drawing in mm.

When I go to layout 1 I have positioned my drawing in the viewport where I want it to be, I then want to change the scale of my viewport to 1:20.

When I do this the viewport zooms in very far and I can no longer see my drawing, I can also no longer pan to find the drawing either - the only option is to zoom out to find the drawing again which changes the scale of the viewport.

I can't work out what I am doing wrong if anyone can help?

I will include an image of my drawing in layout space before I set the scale and then after I set the scale to 1:20

Thanks in advance.

Alex

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Alexandra,

The paper size you are using for the Layout is too small to accommodate your elevation drawing at 1:20 scale. From the 1-st screenshot I see that the scale of viewport is approximately 1:850. Assuming the paper size is A4, I can calculate that the size of the windows on the elevation are 27 by 47 meters (!)

Most likely there was a mistake in sizes when you drew the elevation in Model space.
Such big facade will not fit to A0 paper at 1:20 scale.
