Does anyone have an advice how to make AutoCad LT 2022 work properly on M1 macbook pro with iOS big sur 11.5 on it? It´s just impossible to work normally when Autocad starts to "rotate that colorful ring" after every command!! thanks a lot in advance!

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi @Anonymous ,

Do you have any blocks on Recent Blocks tab of Blocks palette?

If yes, try this:

- right-click inside Recent Blocks tab of Blocks palette and select "Clear All" from context menu.

Now test AutoCAD.

Hi Ivana,

I don't have problems with AutoCAD 2022 on Mac mini with M1 chip (Big Sur 11.4).
Didi you have this issue before upgrading to 11.5?
Do you have the problem from the beginning (on first install)?
Do you have the problem in all of your drawings? Even in newly created with a couple of lines?

Hi Maxim,

thanks for your concern. Yes, it was also with previous version of BigSur, but after uprading to 11.5 I think it´s even worse. After first initial install of the program at the beginning it worked ok, but just maybe 2-3 weeks..? than it started to slow down.. Yes, I have tried to open several drawings, the same problem everywhere - waiting after every command to continue..  I also tried to open a new drawing (it took also ages) and tried to draw single lines and objects - that worked normally..

Did you create those drawings with slow downs yourself, on AutoCAD LT for Mac?
Can you share one of your drawings?

Another check:

- close AutoCAD completely with QUIT command

- restart your Mac

- disconnect from Internet and network (if any) - cable or Wi-Fi

- launch AutoCAD and test one of your drawings

Ivana,

I received your drawing and don't have any visible slow-downs in it.

But you forgot to mention that drawings you are working on have external references attached.

Now I have two another questions:

1/ Where these references are storied? Locally or on network drive?

If they are stored on network drive, then there could be a problem with network and AutoCAD.

2/ I also noticed that you use PDF underlays in your drawing. And I want to say that this is not a good idea. PDF underlays slow down AutoCAD significantly. If you use PDF underlays, I'd suggest you substitute them with raster images. Just save PDF files as JPEGs in Preview app and attach JPG instead of PDF.

thank you Max, but I had an MacBook Pro (Early 2015) before with autoCAD 2017 on it and never had any problems like now - with obviously faster macbook M1 and newer autoCAD on it.. all the references are stored locally on the computer..

I see - they are stored locally.
Are they inside your Home folder?
And what about PDF underlay?

yes, all the references are stored/saved locally. we work with pdf-underlays quite often and it has always worked like that - even if you unload all the references it doesn´t improve anything at all

I still have not installed macOS 11.5 update and cannot be sure if this Update can affect AutoCAD for Mac.

But I think that it is more likely no than yes.

Have you worked with your drawings on macOS  11.4?

If yes. Did you have this slow-downs?

This one:

yes, that´s why I thought I should upgrade the iOS - that it might help but it didn´t..

Sorry, you answered yes, but did not specify which question 😞
I suppose the answer was about mcOS 11.4

So what about AutoCAD LT for Mac 2022.1 Update?
And - can you tell about your MacBook Pro specifications? (exact model, RAM)

Your Mac should be fast enough.
Unfortunately I cannot fully test your drawing unless you create transmit package with all xRefs and underlays in it.
If you can create such package, you can send me a link in PM, I'll try your drawing on my Mac mini tomorrow.

For the moment I can't guess what the real problem might be....

Hi wei503,

thank you for your concern and excuse my late reply. I would highly appreciate your help because the work in autoCad is incredibly slow, it takes ages until I open 1 file, all the commands work really slow, it's not very convenient help for work. Now I have the actual version of Big Sur 11.5.1.

Thanks a lot in advance, ivana
