AutoCAD for Mac 2016 logs to system.log, not the defined log location?

We're trying to troubleshoot some performance issues with AutoCAD for Mac 2016 Update 2.

In AutoCAD's preferences, the log location is set to /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2016/R20.1/local/Logs

That file or folder does not exist.

However, /var/log/system.log seems to have AutoCAD events in it, making the log hard to read, as the AutoCAD events are mixed in with regular system events.

Why is the log location not being respected? And is there any way to get AutoCAD to dump its logs into its own file?

Many thanks.

Hi,

Yes, you are right - there is no such folder after AutoCAD installation.
So you can:
1/ just turn on log file (the contents of the command history will be written to the log file) with LOGFILEON command. Than all log files - separate files for each drawing you will open - will be written to the default path:
/users/YOUR_USER_NAME/Documents folder

2/ change path in AutoCAD preferences to the folder you prefer

3/ create /Users/YOUR_USER_NAME/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2016/R20.1/local/Logs folder.

For #2 and #3 you still need to turn log file creation with LOGFILEON command and log files will be created in the one of specified folders.

You may need to restart AutoCAD after you will turn on log file creation.

To turn log file off - use LOGFILEOFF command.
