AutoCad 2021 + Windows 11 + M1

Hi community,

I am currently facing some serious issues with my AutoCad 2021 on my Macbook Pro 16" (M1 Max, 32GB Ram, 2TB) using Windows 11 on Parallels 18.

When I open a .dwg in our company network and save it, saving takes several minutes and no matter how big the file was, after I save it, it is only a few hundred kb in size. When I or one of my collegues try to open one of my saved files AutoCad says "file not valid". When I save a .dwg on my local machine, everything works fine. When I copy that local file to our network, the "file not valid" error occurs again although the size of the file is the original size.

Has anyone ever experienced this issue and knows how to solve it? My concern is that the ARM-emulation on Windows 11 somehow messes the files up. I already tried severeal settings, but none helped.

Hi @birk.schuster ,

What kind of network connection do you have for Parallels Virtual Machine?

You can check it here:

Are you copying this local file from Parallels VM or are you using macOS Finder?

The VM is set to "shared network"

Just tried copying via Finder and now it can be opened. You think I should change the network settings of the VM?

You can try to change network setting to Bridged Network, but I'm not sure that this will resolve the issue.

That actually worked.

Changed to bridged network using standard adapter and now I can save much quicker and the files are not corrupted. Also copying in windows explorer is no issue anymore.

Thank you for your help!
